Early back in January, I had started fundraising for the Tour De Simcha 2020 ride ... who could have imagined that the past half year would have taken such a crazy and unexpected twist. For a while it looked like there would not be any ride, but the good news came last week that Camp Simcha would be having Camp Simcha without Borders and somehow, someway, we would be riding on the Tour De Simcha early in August, not the original route, nor the original mileage or elevation, nor party. But, since it's not about me, it's about the kids who long for Camp Simcha every summer.... here I am now, a month before the ride asking you to please help me raise money for the children of Camp Simcha, whose lives have already been turned upside down with their illness, and now even more so recently....
I would like to share an excerpt from my post ride update from my first time riding with Tour De Simcha in 2019 because it will give you a flavor for why I'm so excited to be experiencing this ride once again:
"Although this was a long day waking up at 4:15 to be wheels down riding at 6AM this morning ... biking 100 miles from Woodbridge, NJ to the World's Greatest Finish line at Camp Simcha... I'm still riding on adrenaline and the inspiration and excitement from today. My fellow women riders each had their own story and reasons for riding, but in the end it was all for the children who attend Camp Simcha. I am humbled and grateful to each and every one of you for your donation towards my fundraising for my part in raising funds for Camp Simcha to operate - this journey was not about me, even though it was a beautiful and scenic one, LOL, but all the fundraising and training that I've been doing over the past few months was about riding into the finish line at Camp Simcha and dancing with the campers and being able to bring some joy to their difficult journeys with life long illnesses and cancer. That was what kept me going especially when the route got very hard the last 10 miles to camp with uphill climbing ... the uphill climb that these children face daily."
To learn more about Camp Simcha and Camp Simcha special, visit campsimcha.org. I hopefully will be riding alongside the many other dedicated Tour De Simcha Ladies on August 4, 2020, iyh with the
objective to raise $7,500 by then, and I hope you will help me reach this goal. All donations are 100% tax-deductible. Please contribute by clicking on the donate button now.
Thank you for supporting me and, in doing so, helping children and their families cope with the diagnosis, treatment, and aftermath of serious pediatric illness.
XOXO,
Adina Wiener
